A new MMORPG shooter has launched on Steam. What does Will to Live have to offer and how is the online game received?
What is Will to Live? It is a mix of MMORPG and shooter. You are trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. To do this, you are not only searching for food but also for equipment and resources. This is how you try to improve yourself. Along the way, you encounter other players whom you can fight or cooperate with, as well as monsters.
A mix of shooter and MMORPG
What are the features of Will to Live? The mix of shooter battles and MMORPG elements paired with the post-apocalyptic scenario sounds quite exciting.
- You explore a huge, open game world
- The battles play out like in a shooter, with each weapon feeling different
- The weapons are designed to exhibit realistic behavior
- You can complete quests
- Survival elements are important
- You create your hero from four classes, each with unique skills
- It is possible to improve your hero over time
- You descend into dungeons and participate in raids
Will to Live sounds a bit like Fallout as an MMORPG:
How can you participate? Visit the Steam page of Will to Live and simply download the game there. It uses the free-to-play model.
What status is the game in? It is still in an early access phase. This means not all features are implemented, and there are still bugs and performance issues.
There is still a lot to do
How is Will to Live currently received? On Steam, the ratings for the past 30 days are at 63 percent. The game has received quite a bit of criticism because it was previously offered as a buy-to-play game and is now free-to-play. Some buyers are upset about this and express their frustration in the ratings.
Furthermore, the game is still plagued by issues, which is understandable as it is still in early access. Others, however, see potential in the MMORPG shooter and already enjoy what is playable.
- Mr. Masochism says on Steam: “I paid for the game! And now it’s free-to-play! Can I have my money back?”
- Killdeath shouts: “There is still some polishing needed, but it’s fun. Since it’s free now, everyone can try it out themselves.”
- Trouser Snake explains: “It still needs a lot of work, but it has potential.”
What about player numbers? For an MMORPG shooter, there are still relatively few players on the server currently. According to Steamcharts, around 146 players played on average in the last 30 days. The peak was at 1,014 players. However, this could change now that the game has become free-to-play.
Who should consider playing Will to Live? Anyone who enjoys post-apocalyptic scenarios, wants to experience fast shooter battles but also loves MMORPG features, should take a look at the game. After all, it’s free. It somewhat resembles the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.
