A Rift event is too religious for players
What is the problem? In the past week, criticism of the event has increased. Players state that it is too close to the Bible and that such topics have no place in a fantasy MMORPG. A discussion regarding this issue erupted in the Discord channel of the MMORPG.
Not everyone agrees with this. There are plenty of Rift fans who enjoy the event and are actively participating.
What do the operators of Rift think about the situation? The community management team has commented on the situation, stating that the team has invested a lot of time and effort into the event.
The lead community manager Samaxa said: ‘If we were to exclude all events based on real-life, then the pool of ideas for new events would shrink dramatically.’
Furthermore, it was stated that one would have to exclude demons, religions, angels, and the like from all mythologies of the world. Also, there should be no corresponding events related to Halloween and Christmas in the game anymore.
Samaxa also explained: ‘The event will not be stopped or changed. If you do not like it and do not appreciate that the three kings are mentioned, or you do not like the reward, then just do not participate.’
The event is meant to be nothing more than something fun that delights the community. According to the community managers, it has nothing to do with religion. After all, one could interpret something religious or something from the real world into almost anything.
Nonetheless, it is also stated that the team will pay more attention to ensuring that future events are more aligned with the lore of the MMORPG Rift. They would be very grateful for any ideas submitted.
