The MMORPG Allods Online has received a huge update. Although the game, which strongly resembles WoW, has fallen silent here, the new patch is still impressive.
What is Allods Online? The MMORPG takes place in a world consisting of floating islands in space. You travel through the so-called Allods, the remnants of the planet Sarnaut, which was destroyed.
In terms of gameplay, characters, and interface, Allods Online strongly resembles World of Warcraft. It was released in 2010 and has since been considered one of the best MMORPG clones.
The game has a peculiarity, as there are two different servers. On the Free2Play servers, Pay2Win prevails, whereas the subscription server has no shop.
What did the latest update bring? Patch 11.0, titled “Soul of Darkness,” was released on February 27 and introduced many new features for veterans:
- New level cap at level 90
- New talent points and equipment suitable for the increased level
- A new story campaign
- Dozens of quests and even a new quest type
- Sarkan’s Artifact –
- 3 new friendly factions
- Updates to professions
- A variety of balance changes

Although the changes are extensive, the patch is not as large as the 10.0 update from the previous year. At that time, the MMORPG received three new classes and many new activities.
Allods Online – Basically dead on Steam
How is Allods Online doing on Steam? The MMORPG was released on Steam in 2016, 6 years after its initial launch. Based on player numbers there, Allods Online would have long been a dead game.
In February, an average of 23 players logged into the MMORPG daily, peaking at 53 (Steamcharts). Thus, Allods Online even made a leap forward. These were the best numbers the MMORPG had seen since February 2018.
Is Allods Online really dead? The MMORPG seems to have a player base, just not on Steam. The game by MY.GAMES, the publisher of games like Conqueror’s Blade or Ashes of Creation, can be played on its own client.
It is said to be particularly popular in Russia. This is also evident in the new trailer, which has English voiceovers but ends with the Russian lettering of Allods Online.
On average, the MMORPG received about two updates per month in 2019, although there were none in December and January. Apparently, a lot was held back for the major patch in February 2020.
