The Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy has passed away at the age of 66. Numerous players in the MMORPG DC Universe Online gather in-game for a memorial service.
Kevin Conroy was an American actor and voice actor. He became known for his role as the voice of Batman since the original series from 1992. He voiced Batman in numerous animated films, series, and video games since then.
Most recently, he voiced the Batman: Arkham series until 2015, the series Batman: The Killing Joke in 2016, and the film Batman and Harley Quinn from 2017.
On November 10, 2022, Kevin Conroy died of cancer, as Warner Bros announced on Twitter. He is survived by his husband Vaughn C. Williams.
Players hold an in-game memorial for Conroy
Numerous players of the MMORPG DC Universe mourn their hero. They gather in-game on the skyscraper in Gotham City, where Batman is summoned via a light projector.
YouTube videos from ShatteredTwisted Joker and Legendary Squad™ show the gathering of players on the roof. They create a group chat named “RIP Kevin Conroy.”
“If anyone wants to say something about what a hero Kevin Conroy is – I’m live on YouTube right now,” writes ShatteredTwisted Joker in the chat.
Players also discuss the deceased and Batman in general over voice chat. “It’s great that so many have come independently of their leagues to mourn the death of a great Batman,” says one of them.
Not only in DC Universe is there mourning for the actor. People around the world express their shock at the death of Kevin Conroy, including voice actor of the Joker Mark Hamill and many others.
