In MMORPGs there are sometimes more and sometimes less friendly players. Besides all the trolls who advise us to delete our accounts, there are also the helpful players, whom we fondly remember. A fan of The Elder Scrolls Online tells the community a heartwarming story that he still likes to think about today.
User SwornThane shares in the reddit forum a story from Onedarkthought, which only received the attention it deserved in the community of The Elder Scrolls Online. Onedarkthought recounts that he has been an ESO player with an active guild for years.
What is the story about? One night he was in Discord with his guild when his kids asked for a pizza from Pizza Hut. At that time, however, Onedarkthought could not afford a pizza, which is why he had to disappoint his children.
However, four of his guildmates banded together and called the local Pizza Hut. They ordered a pizza for him and his children, leaving a special message on the box:
For the worst healer in ESO.
Onedarkthought was so grateful and fondly remembers this beautiful experience that he has kept the lid of the pizza box, on which the message is written, even four years later.
Perhaps he and his guild are currently playing the brand new Necrom expansion of The Elder Scrolls Online. MeinMMO provides a look at the new areas:
How the ESO community reacts
In the comments, fans are visibly moved by such generosity. They are happy that the user has found such a great guild. We have gathered some quotes from the comments section for you:
- Medical-Enthusiasm56: “That was very nice of them, a good guild.”
- cloud7244: “[…] It is heartwarming that there are such people out there. People always talk about how toxic MMO communities are, but stories like this prove they are not. Hunger is something no one should have to deal with.”
- SufficientBanana7254: “I played ESO between 2014-2018. I found friends with whom I still talk today. That was by far my best social MMO experience.”
There are other users talking about their most beautiful experiences. Behind some of the comments are also sad stories. User krakenbum recounts, for example, how his house caught fire and his guild raised over $1,000 to help him with clothes, food, and a roof over his head.
Also, this anecdote is heartwarming: User karmapathetic has been playing since 2019 and even met his great love through The Elder Scrolls Online, with whom he has been together for 2.5 years. Our MeinMMO author Kevin has found the love of his life through his guild.
karmapathetic also met his best friend through the game and sees him as a brother he never had. His buddy even introduced him to his then-girlfriend before he proposed to her to get his approval.
