The MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2 can be seen as a bad joke in Europe and the USA, as the game, despite being a great success in Asia, simply does not come to our market. Now the release date for the Nintendo Switch version has been announced, and it will only be released in Japan.
On April 4, Phantasy Star Online 2 (PSO 2) will be released for the Switch, and we in Europe will once again be left empty-handed. Fans have repeatedly requested to be able to play the MMORPG here, but Sega apparently has no interest in that.
This could have been the first MMORPG on the Switch in the “West“. Many Switch owners wish for an MMO to experience adventures on the go. At least in Japan, this wish will be fulfilled in April.
Zelda in Phantasy Star Online
PSO 2 for the Switch offers some special features:
- The subtitle of the game is “Cloud”
- Equipment from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is included
- Wear the clothes of hero Link
- Use the Hyrule shield
- Fight with the Master Sword
No version for Europe in sight
Phantasy Star Online 2 was released for PC in 2012, followed by the PS Vita version in 2013, and a mobile version a year later. In April 2016, the MMORPG was even released for Playstation 4. All of these versions, however, were not released in Europe or the USA. PSO 2 is based on a long-standing role-playing game series that started in 1987 on the Sega Master System console.
Apparently, there is no hope for a release of the MMORPG PSO 2 in Europe and the USA.
Update 9.6. 2019: Surprisingly, it was announced at E3 2019 that the MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2 is coming to Xbox One.
