Bless Unleashed celebrated its release on Steam in Summer 2021, but was initially seen as a flop due to the Bless IP. Almost two months after release, the player numbers are still quite stable and a roadmap for the coming months has been published. It looks really good and is likely to make fans of some other MMORPGs envious.
What’s in the roadmap? The next 9 months hold some interesting updates for fans of Bless Unleashed:
- 3 story expansions are planned for January, February, and the first half of 2022
- The new class Assassin is coming in February
- New world bosses and a corresponding new map with bosses are planned
- New dungeons and new difficulty levels are coming
- For PvP fans, there is a new season, a flag system, GvG, a GvG expansion, and new battlefields
- In general, new skills, blessings, and adjustments to the game systems like presets are planned
Especially the months of December, January, and February look really interesting.
How does Bless Unleashed compare to other MMORPGs? The roadmap is very packed and essentially has hardly any weeks without major updates. This impresses compared to many other MMORPGs.
Because often it is not clear how things will proceed in the games or there are long phases without new content, as was the case with WoW after Shadowlands. Here there was a content pause of over 9 months.
But MMORPGs like Guild Wars 2, SWTOR, or LOTRO often leave their players in the dark and make them wait a long time for updates. It also offers much more variety than the roadmap from the direct competitor Swords of Legends Online. There, the focus is mainly on dungeons and raids.
Currently, only ESO and Final Fantasy XIV are regularly delivering their updates, which come about once per quarter on average.
Bless Unleashed is losing players but remains one of the major MMORPGs on Steam
How is Bless Unleashed doing right now? Bless Unleashed was a bit of a surprise on Steam, as upon release, the MMORPG landed in 7th place in the charts. Meanwhile, the numbers have dropped significantly from the all-time peak of 76,273.
In the last 30 days, an average of 14,208 players played. At peak, there were still 34,115 simultaneous players online (via Steamcharts).
In terms of average player numbers, Bless Unleashed ranks 5th among the MMORPGs on Steam, behind New World, FFXIV, ESO, and Black Desert. However, ESO, FFXIV, and Black Desert offer their own clients outside of Steam, which Bless Unleashed does not.
What does Bless Unleashed offer? Bless Unleashed is aimed at fans of MMORPGs with action-packed combat and massive world bosses. Moreover, the world is truly open, allowing you to run from far in the north of the map to the south without loading screens. These 3 aspects are also the highlights of the game and make the leveling experience particularly interesting.
The quests, on the other hand, are very generic, as is the story that is told. In the midgame, you can level various professions, upgrade your equipment, buy your own house, and experience PvP content.
However, in the endgame, Bless Unleashed struggles a bit. This is partly because open-world PvP is activated from level 30, which does not appeal to every player. In addition, upgrading the equipment is designed in a typical Asian style, which means it can fail, damaging your equipment. Lastly, the generic quests cause many endgame contents to feel “similar.”

Bless Unleashed would be a really great MMORPG if it didn’t have these 2 problems
