Shadow’s Kiss is a new MMORPG for PC that is set to be released on Steam in 2022. The game has made headlines particularly for its focus on content for ages 18 and over, including vampires, blood, and BDSM. However, the latest trailer has caused much irritation.
What is the problem with the trailer? The new trailer is supposed to show gameplay from the alpha and was created especially for the upcoming beta on Steam. However, it has not been received well by fans and has caused much skepticism:

- The video was recorded in 4:3 format – allegedly because Steam requires this for mobile devices
- The graphics look like they are from a game from the early 2000s
- There are numerous graphic glitches
- The interface has a mobile look and is way too big for many
- The FPS in the video is very low
- Overall, much about the trailer seems to be intentionally trying to deter players. The game has been in development for 6 years already.
When is the game supposed to be released? The developers announced on May 12 that they received the green light for the first phase on Steam. This means that the first beta tests can take place soon.
Officially, Shadow’s Kiss is supposed to start early access on Steam in 2022. However, many doubt that the MMORPG can really succeed after this trailer.

What kind of game is this anyway? According to its own statement, Shadow’s Kiss focuses on adult players. This is mainly due to the representation of violence and sex in the vampire MMO.
- The game does not use classes and allows you to independently level up skills like sword fighting or necromancy.
- There is no Holy Trinity.
- The combat system works turn-based, similar to the recent hidden gem Broken Ranks.
- There will be quests, dungeons, and solo content for PvE fans.
- There will be housing and PvP, though there is still a lack of concrete information.
- You should have the ability to control humans and delegate tasks to them.
- There will be playable sex scenes where you can try BDSM, both as a dominant and submissive partner.
This concept initially convinced many players, as over $80,000 were already raised for the implementation on Kickstarter (via Kickstarter). Originally, the game only needed $25,000. However, after the latest trailer, many are skeptical whether Shadow’s Kiss can actually build a community.
