Even before the official launch of the cute anime MMORPG MapleStory 2, the game had trouble with gold spammers. The developers have already initiated countermeasures.
The Headstart of MapleStory 2 took place last week, the official release was yesterday – and already gold farmers, spammers, and bots are flooding the game.
Hardly launched, a “Gold Spam War” ignites
What happened? Right after the headstart of MapleStory 2, players complained about gold spammers. Other players and bots flood the chat with offers for gold. Players feel not only disturbed but fear that the entire economy of the MMO will be ruined. The situation hasn’t improved drastically even at release.
How are the developers reacting? The Nexon team stated that they are aware of the problem. Players should not communicate with gold sellers in chat, and anyone who buys or sells gold will be traced back via logs and banned.
- Moreover, the mail system is to be temporarily suspended
- The level requirements for trading with Meso currencies will also be raised to level 50
- Additionally, the team is working on a new system that recognizes spam more effectively and bans the associated accounts immediately
This is how players are reacting: Of course, players are annoyed by the gold spam activities. Nevertheless, most try not to let it ruin their fun. Most discussions in the official forum leave out this topic to focus on the actual game.
Player Nick Smith writes on MassivelyOP: “I have been playing non-stop for the last 9 days and had a wonderful time. There is so much to do. MapleStory 2 is a very creative game. Once they get rid of the gold farmer spam, it will be even better.”
