On April 30, the developers of the MMORPG Ashes of Creation held a livestream. They showcased 3 massive raid bosses that are really well received by many players. Additionally, the return of Alpha 1 access was officially announced.
What are these bosses? Once a month, the developers of Ashes of Creation provide insight into the development of the MMORPG. In April, the focus was on 3 massive ancestor dragons that players can engage in raids.
Each of the bosses had a different, special property:
- The poison dragon created many AoE fields that killed players and developers in droves
- The fire dragon, on the other hand, inflicts a special debuff that can kill players outright if they are hit too often by abilities
- The ice dragon regularly stuns players with its frost abilities
The battles with the dragons have now also been uploaded to YouTube, so you can quickly and easily watch them. Many comments below the video express how impressed they are by the bosses (the fight starts around minute 3:50):
What was said about the Alpha? During the stream, it was revealed that access to Alpha 1 will be available for purchase again starting May 5 at 8:00 PM our time. Previously, one could purchase an account for Alpha 1 on August 15, 2018.

Bosses offer special buffs that can influence PvP
What has been revealed about the raid bosses? Throughout the battle, information about the bosses was interspersed:
- The battles are designed for around 40 to 60 players
- Defeating the bosses grants the participants of the raid a buff that makes them stronger and can be used for fortress battles, for example
- The bosses are partially located near fortresses, which is precisely as intended
- Some content already included in the Battle Royale Apocalypse was utilized for the fire dragon and its surroundings
- The difficulty of the bosses is hard to assess because the group members were wearing dev gear. Without this equipment, Game Director Steven Sharif died multiple times live
However, there were also some bugs during the battles, which is to be expected in an Alpha. Already at the announcement for the upcoming Alpha 1 Game Director Steven Sharif warned players that Ashes of Creation is still very much unfinished.
What do players think of the bosses? In the livestream and also under the video, a variety of positive reactions to the bosses are accumulating. Many particularly praise the visuals:
- Aymen Benameur is especially impressed by the dragons: “They look like real dragons. This is such an improvement over the first dragons we saw that could be ridden.”
