SEGA announced that the MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis will also be released for Playstation 4 on August 31.
What kind of MMORPG is this? Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is one of the MMORPGs with the best action combat systems. The game was released in 2021 as a successor to Phantasy Star Online 2 with the aim of being a true MMO.
PSO 2: New Genesis is completely Free2Play, but does offer a cash shop. It does not build on its predecessors aside from the name, so you can play without any prior knowledge.
What’s new: Now there’s good news. The developer studio SEGA announced that the game Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is set to be released for the Playstation 4 on August 31.
So far, only PC and Xbox players could play PSO 2: New Genesis. The only exceptions were that only the Japanese version could already be played on the PS4. However, soon the other versions will also run on the Sony console.
It is not yet known how the adaptation for the Playstation 5 will look.
What content will be available at launch on the PS4? The release on the PS4 will include additional content such as the “Frozen Resolution” update and the new “Waker class”.
Cross-play will also be possible between all platforms.

How successful was Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis on Steam? The player numbers for the MMORPG speak for the game. In June 2022, there were still 3,271 players concurrently on Steam (via steamcharts.com).
Since the release of the game on Steam on August 5, 2020, the average number of players has been around two to sixteen thousand people. The figures from Xbox are not included, as the corresponding data is missing.
Recent reviews of PSO 2: New Genesis on Steam are balanced. Overall, of the 19,541 reviews, most are positive, with 72% (as of 02.07.2022, via Steam).
