What kind of MMORPG is this? The Quinfall is a sandbox MMORPG that is primarily designed for grinding and lengthy leveling processes. Anyone who wants to achieve something in the game will have to work hard for it and needs a lot of determination.
It reminds players of the genre stalwart Metin 2, but also shares some weaknesses with the once extremely popular MMORPG. From the outset, the combat system has been a problem. Players described it as unintuitive, boring, and outdated – adjectives that no developer likes to hear.
Instead of giving up after the difficult launch of the MMORPG, the developers got to work and presented a completely new combat system in the first major update in 2026.

New Combat System Surprises
What is the new combat system like? The developers of The Quinfall showcased the new combat system in a YouTube video. What immediately stands out is the mobility; player characters move much more during combat, use movement abilities, and a lot is happening.
At the same time, there are more colorful effects, more area attacks, and more explosions. This creates a pleasant play of colors in the video, contrasting with the previously mostly perceived as dreary MMORPG.
Players are also excited about the update, which brings fresh air to the MMORPG. Some are asking in the comments under the YouTube video for a new server to experience the MMORPG from the beginning again.

What is the status of Quinfall? Even though the new combat system is an important step for the early access development of the new MMORPG, the player numbers on SteamDB paint a rather disappointing picture. Despite a discount promotion where the MMORPG costs less than one euro, there are only less than 1,000 players online simultaneously during peak times.
It remains to be seen whether the new combat system and the discount promotion will bring some new players to the Steam MMORPG, but the developers probably cannot be satisfied yet.
In 2026, the MMORPG wants to finally shake off its bad reputation with new updates, even though the last year was not a good start for the MMORPG. MeinMMO expert Karsten Scholz also saw The Quinfall as disappointing in 2025.
