Zenimax has presented the next DLC of the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online. What can you expect from “Dragonhold” and what do the players think about it?
What does Dragonhold offer? The story leads you this time to southern Elsweyr, which has become a lawless region full of slavers, pirates, and brigands after a plague. Now the freed dragons are spreading in this region.
You explore the vast area of southern Elsweyr, where you will also explore more dungeons, complete quests, and participate in dragon hunts. You will once again work with the Redguard swordmaster Sai Sahan.
Dragonhold represents the finale of the great story surrounding the dragons, which began with the DLC Wrathstone and extended through the add-on Elsweyr and the DLC Scalebreaker.
The finale is approaching
What else does Dragonhold bring? Simultaneously with the paid DLC, the free Update 24 is also being released. Many ESO fans are already looking forward to this, as it brings the first performance improvements for the MMORPG. These include a revision of memory management, the first phase of adjustments to combat abilities, and an overhaul of group searching.
Additionally, the update introduces Twitch Drops for console players. If you play ESO on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, you can earn Twitch Drops by watching ESO streams.
When does it start? The first players can try the DLC starting on Monday, September 16 on the PTS, the Public Test Server. However, this is only available for the PC version of the MMORPG!
It is still an unfinished version. The testers are supposed to provide feedback on what needs to be changed and optimized.
How to participate: We explain how you can use the PTS.
- In the launcher of the PC version of ESO, click the gear icon at the top.
- Now check the box for “Show Public Test Server.”
- This server will now be downloaded and will appear in your launcher.
- Simply select the PTS if you want to play on it and try the DLC Dragonhold starting Monday.
When will Dragonhold be officially released? Currently, there is no final release date for the DLC and the update. However, it is expected to be this year.
Anticipation is high
What do the fans think about Dragonhold? Many are looking forward to finding out how the story surrounding the dragons ends. Perhaps the DLC will also provide a small hint of what is coming next. Players hope for this.
However, there is also some criticism. Namely, that the entire story, which has stretched over the year 2019, has been paid. This time the story was not told in the add-on, as it was with Summerset, while the DLCs offered standalone stories. Those who want to experience the complete story surrounding the dragons must purchase the DLCs in addition to Elsweyr or be a subscriber of ESO Plus.
Therefore, some in the ESO community hope that the next story will conclude again with the add-on.
Players are not only looking forward to the finale of the story but also to the performance improvements of the update, as this has been a problem in the MMORPG for quite some time.
