In July 2021, Crowfall celebrated its official release. Now there is the first major update for the MMORPG, which particularly emphasizes better participation in PvP for players. Additionally, there is a discount promotion to obtain the Buy2Play title at a lower price.
What is happening right now with Crowfall? On July 6, Crowfall celebrated its release. The MMORPG places great importance on PvP but initially faced a lot of criticism.
It was supposed to be an MMO that plays like a season of Game of Thrones and thus bring fresh air into the genre. However, at release, there was considerable criticism, mainly regarding performance, the interface, and the tutorial.
These problems and the repeatedly delayed release are said to have led to the fact that hardly any player was online at launch.
However, the first update has now been deployed, addressing some of these problems. The focus is primarily on the mega-servers and new hotspots, through which players are supposed to encounter enemies more frequently in PvP.

What is included in update 7.100? The main feature of the update is “Global Conquest”. This is intended to break down the “barriers between worlds”. In simple terms: Instead of different servers, the PvP campaigns Dregs and The Shadow will now take place on a mega-server where all players meet.
Also hitting the same note are the 3 new “Hot Zones”. These are locations where particularly strong opponents can be found, which in turn provide particularly good loot. Players are supposed to be drawn there, which simultaneously leads to more PvP being fought in these areas.
The update also contains:
- New locations where merchants and other NPCs have settled
- An adjustment to the victim system
- Some fixes and gameplay adjustments
- “Significant performance improvements”
While the mega-servers themselves are a good change to allow players to encounter their enemies more often, there is also criticism. Because ideally, multiple servers should run alongside each other, offering different seasons and rules. In an interview with Massively, Gordon Walton revealed that they want to stick to this mega-server system for a few months, but may switch back to multiple scenarios simultaneously (via MassivelyOP).
Are the servers now fuller? We at MeinMMO logged into Crowfall on September 2 at 7:00 PM. The game now offers only one server for each campaign. Both the server for faction battles and the one for GvG had a population of “Light” (green). This does not bode well for overcrowded servers.
In the starting area for new characters, we also encountered only one person. That is not particularly much either.
However, the developers have launched a new option for trial accounts and a discount promotion if you have a friend who is already playing Crowfall.

What changes for newcomers? Crowfall is a Buy2Play MMORPG, which poses a significant barrier to entry. However, with the latest update, the “Recruit a Friend” system has been expanded:
- Anyone already playing Crowfall can send friends a link to play the MMORPG for 10 days for free
- If they then wish to purchase it, they receive a 25% discount through the referral link
With this method, at least Crowfall fans can more easily generate new players for the MMORPG.
What does the future hold for Crowfall? In an interview with MassivelyOP, Gordon Walton revealed that work is already underway on further updates to implement player feedback. The goal is to bring more fun to the PvP of Crowfall.
However, he did not reveal what specific changes are planned.
