It’s time for our MeinMMO format “MMORPG News in Two Minutes.” We summarize the most important news about the best genre in the world. Look forward to a party in Middle-earth, new updates for WoW and FFXIV, and more.
The highlights of the week:
- With patch 7.21, Cosmo explorations are starting in Final Fantasy XIV – here’s what you need to know. By the way, just one day after the release of the update, many servers were almost finished and player emotions were running high.
- The next update for World of Warcraft is live. We reveal what’s included in patch 11.1.5 – and which content will be activated when.
- On May 14, a new Turbo Boost event starts for WoW: The War Within: “During this event, the upgrade ranges for heroic and mythic will be expanded by 2 upgrades (from 6 to 8), the cap for emblems will be lifted, and valor stones will be locked to war gains for the rest of the season. Additionally, the drop rate for equipment in Mythic+, which is locked to war gains until equipped, will be doubled” – via blizzard.com.
- On May 14, the new “Dinare” will also come to WoW: The War Within, allowing you to buy epics from the current raid. This new feature, however, has a catch that is causing unrest in the community.
- Defiance made its comeback this week. Unfortunately, there were extensive technical issues at the restart, which likely stemmed from the new developers’ lack of experience with the game’s engine, but the unexpectedly large influx of players also took the team by surprise – there were 4 times as many players online as during the most recent stress test, via massivelyop.com.
What else happened? Lord of the Rings Online is currently celebrating its 18th anniversary. To celebrate this milestone, there are new anniversary rewards and gifts. You can find the guide to the party on lotro.com. Additionally, update 44 has been released. “The Crown of Hamât” brings several new quests and a 6-player dungeon. Unfortunately, only VIPs have free access. The official German patch notes can also be found on lotro.com.
