A new trailer for the seven-year-old MMORPG Blade & Soul shows the positive effect an engine change has on the graphics.
What was shown? A new trailer for the MMORPG Blade & Soul has been released. It shows nearly two minutes of scenes from the online game.
What’s special about it? The scenes are from the new version of the game, which has been enhanced with the Unreal Engine 4. Blade & Soul visually makes a fantastic impression. It essentially looks like an MMORPG set to be released in 2019/2020.
This is how beautiful a 7-year-old MMORPG can look
What can be seen in the trailer? A fighter flies over a beautiful snowy landscape, lands on a lake, and walks on the water.
Eventually, she arrives at an arena and participates in the fights, which are extremely action-packed and spectacular.
Is this really in-game graphics? It’s somewhat unclear whether we are actually seeing gameplay here. However, earlier teasers of the Unreal Engine 4 version looked very similar graphically. Therefore, it is probably in-game graphics created with the engine.
When will the update be released? This is still unclear at the moment. In Korea, the update is supposed to be rolled out in December with a major content patch. However, it seems we won’t get to enjoy the new graphics until 2020.
Not only stylish but extensive
How does the new engine enhance the graphics? Thanks to Unreal Engine 4, there are improvements in lighting and shadow conditions, the water looks better, there are more and more detailed reflections, and overall performance optimizations.
What else does it bring? The big content update will not only introduce the new engine but also the option to start fresh. You will then experience the story of Blade & Soul anew with better graphics.
- Additionally, the Force Master will receive a new Awakening path
- A large PvP battleground is set to be added
- The story will be expanded with a new chapter
- There are rumors of a new class (not the recently introduced archer), but these have yet to be confirmed
