During a fan event, the developers of Black Desert Online released information about upcoming content. The focus is on PvE, which will receive new features and major revisions.
What new features are planned? Players of Black Desert can look forward to many new features. The highlights are:
- The new class Shai, about which we have revealed everything here
- The new game mode “Altar of Blood”
- New islands and many revisions around shipping
- Revisions of old areas and their difficulty
- Adjustments to the Node Wars
The announcements were made in Korean and later translated into English. Apparently, the new features are intended to be released simultaneously across all versions of the game. This seems to be another step towards the global version of Black Desert.
When are the new features coming to the game? All announced new features are expected to come to the game this summer. Some already have more specific dates:
- The new class Shai is set to be released on June 19
- The revision of old areas is also scheduled for June
Additionally, all players will receive a Wizard Gosphey Pet as a free gift. This will be distributed in Europe during the maintenance on June 12.
Completely new game mode for 3-player groups
What is the “Altar of Blood”? The new game mode is designed for three players who must actively collaborate and coordinate to succeed.
The game mode resembles a tower defense mode, where a relic must be protected. However, this time players will use their own equipment, unlike the Horde mode Savage Rift.
During the presentation, the game mode was described as very difficult. The developers reportedly even criticized each other during testing when mistakes were made.
Old areas are to become more interesting and challenging
Which areas will be revised? This summer, Black Desert aims to breathe new life into old areas. Fadus has already been adjusted with the Starfall patch.
Now Pollys Forest and Ashen Forest are set to follow.
What changes are being made to Pollys Forest? Pollys Forest is to become more like Gahaz and provide an alternative. The difficulty and loot of enemies will be adjusted accordingly. Additionally, there will be a new treasure mushroom that provides buffs to your character.
What changes are being made to Ashen Forest? Ashen Forest is set to undergo even more extensive revisions and become a new endgame area. Both the difficulty and the rewards will be adjusted accordingly.
The developers recommend 310 AP and 400 DP for the new version of the area. There will also be monsters that no player should be able to defeat alone.
Realistic experiences at sea
What is “The Great Expedition”? The new sailing expansion “The Great Expedition” aims to enhance the current experiences with maritime content in two updates:
- The first update focuses on new islands and new ships.
- The second one emphasizes ocean exploration
What changes are being made to the seas of Black Desert? A significant new feature is the introduction of tides and wind currents. You should be able to move faster in the future when utilizing these influences, but also slower if you are caught off guard by them.
Additionally, new ships are planned, which you will be able to use to explore the seas. So far, a Karak and a Galley have been presented, but there will be more ships.
Adjustments to PvP and UI
What changes are being made to PvP? The developers announced in a livestream in Korea that changes are also planned for PvP. The focus is on Node and Conquest Wars.
Adjustments are planned, which will make coordination and strategy more important than the sheer strength of guilds. More detailed information is expected to follow later.
Many more new features: Pearl Abyss has also announced many additional adjustments for Black Desert. This includes:
- Interactions from mounts
- Revisions of buffs
- Improvements to the UI
- Balance adjustments
- More time for bug fixes in patches
You can read the complete announcement in English on the official website.
