In 2019, Black Desert was released for the consoles PS4 and Xbox One. Although the MMORPG has always been Buy2Play, various promotions often made it available for free. This year, however, the game is taking a different route. It will be released in a physical version in stores and even gets a new version.
What kind of version is this? The new Black Desert Prestige Edition costs €34.99 and is set to be released soon. The version includes:
- The game for the respective platform
- An exclusive pet
- 30-day advantage package
- Enhancement package
- Advice from Valks (+40)
- 15x Blessed Scroll (XP boost for 100 minutes each)
- 2,000 pearls
Compared to the online version that you currently have to buy for PS4 and Xbox One, this is a good deal. There you still pay €29.99, but apart from the advantage package and 1,000 pearls, you receive no bonuses. Moreover, with the new Prestige Edition, you get to hold a CD box in your hands again.
For distribution, the developer Pearl Abyss partnered with the German company Koch Media.
Crossplay and many updates to catch up on content
How does Black Desert perform on consoles? Although the MMORPG was released on PS4 and Xbox One several years after the PC version, much of the old content has since been added, leading to regular and significant updates.
While the console versions are still not at the level of the PC, with the new class Hashashin, which releases on September 2 for PC, the consoles even got it first. Today, there was even an update with the new Awakening version. This is an upgrade with an alternative weapon for the class once it reaches level 56 and follows a specific quest line.
Crossplay between consoles: Another advantage of the versions for PS4 and Xbox One is crossplay. While PC players are out solo, you can hunt together with different consoles. And this is despite several months between the releases on both platforms.
Overall, things are going well for Black Desert. The MMORPG also receives regular updates on PC, got new season servers, and the class Gardia this year. The success is also reflected in the high player numbers that Black Desert can boast.
