In June, the new Black Star weapons will make their way into the western version of the MMORPG Black Desert. In Korea, they are already available, and their advantages are manageable.
What are the Black Star weapons? In a new trailer, Kakao Games presents the new endgame weapons. The Black Star weapons have the rarity Orange and are said to be available through a challenging series of quests.
These quests will mainly be found in the new area Star’s End. The area is located west of Calpheon and is associated with the world boss Kzarka.
When are the new features coming to the game? The new area and the Black Star weapons are set to arrive with a patch on June 5. Thus, the developers are already working on the third part of their Roadmap for the first half of 2019.
On May 22, a patch was released that contained the new underwater zones. At the beginning of May, the Doom mount was already introduced into the game.
Perfect for PvE, but not for PvP
These are the new weapons: In the English forum, user Jannanomana wrote a small guide upon the release of the weapons in Korea. In this, he also lists the stats as main hand in PEN, the highest evaluation level:
- AK 131~137
- Accuracy 212
- Bonus damage against all species +18
- Additional AP against monsters +48
- Attack speed +3
To earn these weapons, you apparently need at least one character level 57 or higher, 320 DP, a fast mount, and the completion of all Media storylines.
How good are Black Star weapons in comparison? Already with the release in Korea, players began comparing them to previously available weapons.

In comparison, it is particularly noticeable that the additional damage against monsters is extremely large with the Black Star weapons. They are thus well suited for PvE.
However, apart from this bonus damage, the differences are very manageable. The general damage and the specific damage against all species is greater with already existing weapons like Kzarka or Offin. Thus, these are better suited for PvP.
What do players think? On Reddit, many players say they prefer to stick with their already crafted weapons. Additionally, some are still trying to reach the higher tiers of Kzarka or Offin. This is said to be especially cheaper in the beginning than grinding for the new weapon.
While the Black Star weapons are the first to represent an upgrade to the original boss gear, they still do not seem to have sparked the interest of the players.
