During a charity livestream, the developers of the MMORPG Ashes of Creation managed to raise over $88,000. This prompted CEO Steven Sharif to shave off his beard and have pies thrown in his face.
What was the reason for the livestream? Intrepid Studios held a livestream to raise money for Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego as part of ExtraLife4Kids 2020. The event was streamed live for 24 hours.
They planned to raise $20,000 to donate, but in the end, they actually gathered $88,546.
Those who participated in the donation campaign even had the chance to win keys for the Alpha One for the MMORPG Ashes of Creation.

How did the shaving come about? The CEO of Intrepid Studios, millionaire Steven Sharif, agreed to shave his beard if the target of $30,000 was reached. He followed through on his promise and posted a picture of his clean-shaven face. Without a beard, the man is hardly recognizable at first glance.
What’s with the pies? Intrepid Studios has been raising money for sick children for 4 years – a total of over $144,000 has been raised so far. And every time, the livestream ends with some pies, which Steven Sharif gets pushed into his face.
This year was no different. His team had a lot of fun throwing 6 whipped cream pies in the face of the now clean-shaven CEO. This year it should be a bit easier for beardless Steven Sharif to wash the cream off his face.
What is this campaign about? Extra Life is a campaign where, under the motto “Play Games, Heal Kids”, donations are raised for children’s hospitals. The aim is to make the stay of the children who need treatment there more pleasant.
