A new video about the upcoming MMORPG Ashes of Creation (PC) showcases, among other things, a massive dungeon. This dungeon is so large that you could use flying mounts in it.
What was shown? In a new gameplay video, the developers of the MMORPG Ashes of Creation talked about gathering resources and presented a dungeon. This particular dungeon is especially interesting as it is truly enormous. The developers also emphasize their commitment to creating a vast world – this includes gigantic dungeons.
The developers flew in the video from an alpha version of the online game on a huge moth, which you can obtain as a mount in the MMORPG, through the immense halls. You can, of course, also travel on the ground, but then you will have to rely on horses to cover the large distances.
If you want, you can also walk, but then you will spend a really long time in the dungeon. It is still unclear to what extent flying mounts will be allowed in the dungeons at the release of the MMORPG. It could be that some areas are only accessible on foot or that flying creatures are not allowed in all dungeons – or ultimately in none for balancing reasons. In the alpha, however, it seems possible to simply fly in with flying mounts.
You are not alone in the dungeons!
What else is special about the dungeon? Besides its immense size, where you are traveling for minutes even with a flying mount, there is another special feature:
The dungeons in Ashes of Creation are not instanced. This means you share the vaults with other players. This explains why the displayed dungeon is so large. After all, a lot of players can be present there.
This also leads to skirmishes over treasures or monster spawn points. Ashes of Creation is an MMORPG that places great importance on PvP. Therefore, conflicts between player groups could arise in the dungeons. Whether PvP is allowed everywhere is still uncertain. However, the developers have stated that no one is forced into PvP.
However, you will need to get used to the fact that not only you and your group are in the dungeon wanting to fight the massive dragon, but you will also encounter other groups along the way.
What else can be seen in the video? The developers also talked about gathering resources in Ashes of Creation. You can only mine certain resources once you have reached a specific level. Furthermore, your tools wear out over time. The better you are at gathering resources, the higher your chance of finding rare resources.
Additionally, for example, ore veins do not provide resources indefinitely. At some point, everything is mined. However, a new vein will appear at a different location.
What do you think of the dungeons in Ashes of Creation? Would you have preferred instances?
Ashes of Creation is an extremely interesting MMORPG. It could perhaps even become the online role-playing game that everyone is waiting for.
