The MMO Dragon Hound has caused a stir since its announcement. It strongly resembled Monster Hunter World, but here you fought against dragons. Now Nexon announces that the production of the MMO will be discontinued.
What is Dragon Hound? The MMO was presented last year at G-Star in China and had a strong publisher in the Korean gaming giant Nexon. The MMO was developed by devCat.
In the game, you were supposed to hunt creepy creatures, similar to Monster Hunter World. However, the focus was on the titular dragons that you were supposed to take down.
Trailers have shown that you were supposed to charge at the dragons on horseback. The horses were meant to shoot cannons that were supposed to take out the dragons and other creatures. So the trailers painted quite a quirky picture.
MMO Dragon Hound is already dead
This is what has happened: As Nexon announced, work on Dragon Hound will be stopped. They explain this by saying that management has reviewed all ongoing games and that Nexon “needs more success.” Apparently, Nexon does not see much potential in their MMO anymore.
So Nexon will now look for new projects, and their employees understand that such cancellations of games are important for the company’s growth.
However, how things will proceed now and whether there is already a new project in sight is still unknown.
What do players say about this? The opinions from players have been very low. If there were comments, they were mostly negative. True_Naeblis writes on reddit: “It’s a shame they spent all that time on a game that nobody asked for.”
YumaRuchi only comments on this action with: “To nobody’s surprise.”
It seems that generally, there was little interest in this game. After all, there is already a huge competitor in Monster Hunter World, which is hard to surpass.
