Destiny 2 now offers players the ability to buy lost Exotic weapons directly if they have the necessary cash.
This is new: In Season 11, Destiny 2 has introduced a way to obtain previously lost Exotic weapons. Guardians who missed a season since the start of Year 3 in the fall of 2019 or who didn’t have enough time to unlock everything can now easily secure the flagship weapons of their respective eras.
You can obtain these 5 Exotics:
- Eriana’s Vow (Season 8) – The unique hand cannon requires special ammo and is practically a sniper in compact sidearm design
- Leviathan’s Breath (Season 8) – This bow is the first heavy bow, its arrows cause area damage and can even knock enemies into pits
- Bastion (Season 9) – The kinetic fusion rifle fires 3 shots and penetrates shields, in PvP it can take out supers with a burst
- Symmetry (Season 9) – Fully automatic, seeking, auto-reloading, and more damage in the alternate fire mode – all of this is true for the scout rifle Symmetry
- Devil’s Ruin – The unassuming sidearm can charge a massive laser beam and cause enemies to stagger
Many of the listed Exotics bypass one of the pressing issues of the entire class: They intrinsically have the ability to disrupt Champions, which otherwise has to be achieved by legendary weapons through mods.
You need to know about buying Exotics: To obtain the missed Exotics from the past, you need to visit Rahool in the Tower. Since Season 11, he offers the 5 Exotics listed above in his inventory.
However, the price is quite steep:
- 100,000 Glimmer
- some planetary resources
- 3 Enhancement Prisms
- 1 Exotic Code
The Exotic Code is a new item, of which only one can fit in your inventory. Currently, it is uniquely found in the Season Pass – at level 55 in the free track. It is not known if more will be available later in the game. It is possible that higher Nightfall tiers could drop the item. By the way, you can also shop with the rarity at Xur.
Less FOMO – Destiny 2 wants to stress you less
With the direct purchase of Exotics from past days, a promise of Destiny 2 is being fulfilled. They want to have less FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) in the game.
This marks a departure from plans a year ago, when Bungie wanted to create a “I was there” feeling. In hindsight, they realized that this feeling didn’t resonate well. Destiny director Luke Smith also addressed this in the big reveal stream on June 9. Among other things, the seasons are set to be thoroughly revised in the future.
What about other seasonal weapons? The seasonal Exotics from Season 10 are not yet in the inventory of the Cryptarch. This includes the thunderous Fourth Horseman shotgun and the heavy WM-Remembrance from the Guardian Games event.
What will happen to the special legendary quest weapons, like the PvP Primus Felwinter’s Lie, is currently unknown. In the past, event rewards often migrated into the general loot pool, allowing them to be found randomly.
