Is there the Exotic Quest for the Hand Cannon Service Step only in the final Curse Week – that is, in a 3-week cycle for Destiny 2? Bungie has now provided an official answer.
Recently, the Curse over the Dreaming City reached its peak. In the final Curse phase – that is, the third week – the Exotic Quest for the Service Step went live.
Is the quest available only every 3 weeks? To get this quest, you must kill a special Ascendant Primeval in Gambit mode. However, this spawns randomly and some Guardians have had no luck so far. But the third week is slowly coming to an end and many fans are now wondering if this boss can only be found and killed every three weeks. Now Bungie has clarified the situation.
Chance for the Service Step remains, but fades with the Curse
Chance remains, but decreases: In a post on Reddit, Community Manager Cozmo has now confirmed that the chance for the Service Step quest remains even after the peak of the Curse, that is, after the end of each third week. However, the likelihood of the Ascendant Primeval spawning is higher during the final third Curse week.
Community dissatisfied: After Cozmo’s response, numerous fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the quest. Not only are many unhappy with the design decision to tie such a quest completely to chance – some players feel the spawn rate of the boss is also lacking.
Some players report more than 100 Gambit matches and over 30 hours of pure Gambit playtime in recent days, yet the Ascendant Primeval remains elusive – and this is during the third Curse week, where the spawn rate is said to be highest. What the chances are like in the remaining two weeks is something they don’t even want to think about.
Additionally, it has been reported that the Service Step quest is occasionally buggy. For instance, one team managed to finally encounter the relevant Primeval and even take it down first, but the victory was credited to the losing team – despite the fact that they hadn’t summoned the boss at all.
Community Manager Cozmo has stated that he has communicated the Guardians’ concerns regarding the spawn rate to the development team. Whether or how Bungie will respond to the (further) feedback remains to be seen.
The Curse changes the Dreaming City
What’s going on with the Curse? After the Raid “Last Wish” was initially overcome, a curse was unleashed that spread over the Dreaming City. This curse has since expanded and reached its peak in the third week. According to Bungie, this 3-week cycle will now continue.
The important thing is: The endgame activity The Shattered Throne is only available during the final Curse phase – that is, when the Dreaming City is completely afflicted by the Curse. The quest for the Exotic Bow Wishender is tied to this new activity and can therefore only be obtained every three weeks. Until recently, it was unclear if this also applied to the exotic Hand Cannon Service Step.
