The newly introduced EU General Data Protection Regulation GDPR is causing a stir in the online gaming sector. It has now been reported that Mirage: Arcane Warfare had to be discontinued because of it.
The Torn Banner Studios have removed their online action game Mirage: Arcane Warfare from Steam. The servers will soon be shut down.
Another game is being shut down
Why was the game removed from Steam? The developers cannot afford the adjustments required by the new regulation. Mirage has been struggling with declining player numbers for some time, and the team simply sees no way to cover the costs of adjusting Mirage to comply with the GDPR.
The game has already disappeared from Steam. It is no longer possible to purchase Mirage: Arcane Warfare on Steam. However, those who already own the game can continue to play until the bitter end.
The servers will be shut down in a few days. The Torn Banner Studios announce that the servers of the online game will be shut down on May 31.
What will happen to Chivalry: Medieval Warfare? The predecessor of Mirage is performing much better, which is why it is also “worth” covering the costs to adjust to the GDPR. Therefore, you can continue to play Chivalry: Medieval Warfare as usual.
Mirage: Arcane Warfare is not the only online game that has to be shut down due to the GDPR.
