What kind of enemies are they? During Minecon 2020, the Warden was introduced in the stream. They are new, dark enemies that await you in the dark caves. They look frightening and hit hard. The good thing is that the enemies are blind. They are even the first blind enemies in Minecraft. But that makes them only a little less dangerous for you.
When is the release of the Warden? In summer 2021, the big “Caves & Cliffs” update (version 1.17) for Minecraft will be released. It is “the most anticipated update of all time” and changes a lot underground and even brings the new copper ore. With the release, the Wardens will also appear. To be well prepared for the fight against the new enemies, we show you here everything we already know about the Warden.
Wardens in Minecraft can hear you
What is special about the Warden? Although the monsters cannot see, they react to sounds or vibrations. They do this with their Skulk sensor blocks on their heads.
As long as the Wardens are not alarmed, they move quite slowly. But in combat, they are significantly faster.
If you behave loudly near them and make sounds, they will find you and attack. And you should be well prepared for that, as Wardens are strong.
You can trick them: With items like snowballs, you have a good chance of distracting the Wardens. If you find yourself in a dark cave with them, you can use tricks. Just throw the snowballs in a different direction than the one you want to go. The Wardens will chase after the vibrations. This gives you a chance to escape.
However, if you are already in combat with them, they cannot be distracted by other sounds.
Where do Wardens spawn in Minecraft?
In this biome you will encounter them: The Wardens spawn in the “Deep Dark” biome. That is deep inside dark caves. This is where the new Skulk blocks also spawn. So you will find them on the level just before the Bedrock blocks.
The environment where the Wardens spawn is dark. This makes it easier for the enemies to sneak up on you.
You can recognize them immediately when they are nearby. They are large and look creepy. If they track a sound, your heart begins to race. This is audible and visible.
How much damage do Wardens do and how much can they take?

It can only be speculated how many hit points the Warden has. The player in the clip fails to defeat the enemy with 7 arrows and some sword hits. They can take quite a bit – currently about 100 hit points or 50 hearts, similar to the Iron Golem.
The damage that Wardens deal seems to be very high. The character in the embedded clip wears full Netherite armor. A hit from the Warden still takes away 6.5 hearts. In two hits, you would be defeated.
Significantly cuter than the Wardens are the new water creatures. The Axolotl even help you in underwater battles in Minecraft.
