Minecraft has received 2 new updates. One of them brings you a new way of transportation.
More than 16 years have passed since Minecraft was released in Early Access and it continues to captivate millions of players to this day. In 2014, the game was bought by Microsoft together with Mojang, the development studio behind Minecraft.
Even after all these years, the game still receives new updates and content. Just a few days ago, it was time again: The updates are called “Chase the Skies” and “Vibrant Visuals”, as well as the number 1.21.6. While the first one was released for both the Java and Bedrock versions, the second update is only available for Bedrock players.
Higher, faster, further
What’s included in Chase the Skies? The Chase the Skies update brings some content changes to both versions of the game. The biggest novelty is the introduction of the happy ghast. This is a peaceful variant of the ghast that most Minecraft players will likely know from the Nether.
This peaceful variant of the ghast can grow from a withered ghast. The latter can be found or crafted. If you have a fully grown happy ghast, you can use this mob as a mount and fly through the air with it.
You even have the option to take up to 3 other players along and fly together through the world. Additionally, a happy ghast can be used to transport larger items and animals like boats or horses.
Moreover, the update gives you the opportunity to see players in an indicator for the first time. You can see the direction where a player is located and approximately how far away the player is based on the size of the indicator.
Furthermore, the functionality of leads has been expanded, which can now be used to connect multiple mobs together. You can also finally craft saddles yourself and find new music discs in the game with the new update.
What’s included in Vibrant Horizons? The second update, Vibrant Horizons, was released only for the Bedrock version. It brings some visual improvements.
There are new visual enhancements for sunlight, shadows, as well as water reflections, fog, and waterfalls. Currently, the Bedrock versions are supported on the following devices:
- Xbox Series X|S
- Xbox One
- PS4 and PS5
- some Android devices
- some iOS devices
- PCs with DirectX 12
In the future, a release of the update for the Java version is planned.
If you want to jump back into the game with the new updates, then you will need one essential thing as always: resources. A player conducted an interesting experiment to check where in the Nether you can find rare resources most successfully: A Minecraft player lets 32 bots dig in the Nether for hours to show you where you can find resources best.
