500 hours in Minecraft, erased by a single small mistake. This is how quickly hardcore worlds can come to an end…
Minecraft is not just about a lot of creativity, but also about a certain tolerance for frustration. After all, some big projects can come to an abrupt end due to the spontaneous explosion of a creeper. It’s particularly bitter when the game mode was set to “hardcore”. That’s when streamers can lose their game world with just a tiny mistake…
What is the Hardcore mode? The Hardcore mode of Minecraft is a very special challenge. Here, the player only has one life. If he dies, the world is locked or deleted – building is no longer possible. Such game worlds have their own charm, as you have to play extremely carefully to avoid making mistakes. Because a Minecraft death can happen quickly, and just one wrong step can mean the end for the entire game world.
What happened? Streamer Gisthekey fell victim to just such a mistake. He had been playing in his hardcore world for nearly 500 hours and entertained his viewers with what he had already achieved in that world.

In his last stream, he was in the process of building a kind of zoo. He had locked various creatures from Minecraft into glass cages that viewers could then visit from his apartment. Of course, a creeper must not be missing in such a collection, which he promptly placed into the necessary hole. Creepers are green monsters that explode shortly after coming into contact with the player – they are considered the top danger in Minecraft, even if there are sometimes “nice” creepers.
However, because a normal creeper seemed too ordinary for the streamer, he quickly turned it into a “charged creeper”. These are creepers that have been struck by lightning and glow blue afterwards. They look cooler but cause double damage when they explode.
This is how the Minecraft world ended: Using a trident, Gisthekey transformed his captured creeper into a charged one. He even threw a splash potion of healing on the creeper to heal it. However, he stepped too far over the edge and fell into the hole with the creeper. The detonation was unavoidable, and thus not only the streamer but also the entire world perished in the explosion. Gisthekey had invested nearly 500 hours in the world by then and had already built a lot.
However, Gisthekey doesn’t seem to be particularly frustrated. After a brief moment of laughter, he is already looking forward to his next world.
The search for the perfect world can also take more than 500 days. The most famous Minecraft world was found only after more than 9 years…
