The 27-year-old Brit George Davidson is known as “GeorgeNotFound” and is one of the biggest YouTubers and Twitch streamers for Minecraft. But his life is taking a bumpy turn. He is facing allegations that he behaved inappropriately towards an 18-year-old at the time, and is experiencing serious consequences.
What are the allegations?
- On March 9, a 19-year-old Twitch streamer “Caitibugzz” tearfully shared that she was sexually harassed by a “much older” and “popular content creator” in the summer of 2023 (via twitter).
- The man disguised his “sexual assault” by asking her if she was ticklish. He then touched her under her shirt. She was 18 at the time and had just graduated from school. In the video, she appears traumatized by the experience. She feels disappointed in herself and wonders if she will ever find peace again.
- Because of the detail about the tickling, fans quickly pointed to GeorgeNotFound, who is known for his “tickle fetish.” And indeed, the streamer’s narrative revolves around the British Minecraft streamer.
Accused says: Situation would have developed consensually and slowly
This is what the accused says: GeorgeNotFound presents the situation differently.
He assumed the woman was 21 because she had come from an official event, a VidCon afterparty, where people drank alcohol. And this afterparty was strictly regulated and had strong safety measures. Therefore, he assumed she was at least 21 because otherwise, she wouldn’t have been allowed to drink.
He has no recollection of the woman saying she was only 18. It could be that he was just getting a drink when she said that. He doesn’t know for sure.
As she portrays it, it sounds like they were “hunting” her and forcing her to drink. But that was not the case; she had already come to the meeting slightly drunk.
GeorgeNotFound states that he actually went under her shirt and placed his hand at waist height, but that did not happen suddenly; their relationship had become increasingly intimate throughout the evening:
“As she describes it, it sounds as if it just happened out of nowhere. In reality, we had been cuddling for about an hour – it didn’t come from nowhere.”
He only moved his hand further up after about half an hour. There was nothing rapid about it. It happened very slowly and cautiously, so he was sure she felt comfortable.
“Cait and I were cuddly and very slow in becoming more intimate.”
She had smiled at him the whole time, laughed, and even playfully fought. For him, that was not a sexual assault.
Streamer says: She never gave her consent
This is what she says: The streamer expresses in a reply (via twitter):
- She did not give verbal consent
- She was drunk
- The cuddling originated from him; he practically spooned with her
- She did not think cuddling automatically meant it would also be sexual and interpreted as an invitation
The streamer asks: How could she give her consent when she was never asked? And how could she give her consent when she was drunk?
In response to the objection that she could have moved away from him, she says: That all happened publicly, in front of others, and she is shy. She did not want to draw attention and spare his ego:
“I didn’t want someone I had watched for a while [on YouTube] or who had many followers to hate me because I refused to sit next to him. I didn’t want to embarrass either myself or him: I know this is a silly mindset. I admit that.”
Her body language was misinterpreted by GeorgeNotFound. She did not smile at him when he was under her shirt; that was her nervousness. She was startled because she had never been in a boy’s hotel room and had never done anything sexual. She never thought cuddling would lead to something sexual.
He was the first ever to touch her.
GeorgeNotFound says he made many wrong assumptions
This is what he says: GeorgeNotFound apologized to Caitibugzz and said that he would explicitly ask for her age in the future.
He simply assumed her age. That was irresponsible.
For GeorgeNotFound, the problem seems to lie primarily in that he misjudged the age and sexual experience of the streamer: He makes it clear that “going under the shirt” was the furthest the then 18-year-old streamer had ever gone sexually – but for him as a 27-year-old, it was “pretty tame.”
They viewed the situation differently. He will take that to heart for the future.
The situation would look very different if he had asked for her consent and she had said “yes,” but he never did.
Asmongold escalates the case: “She is lying and destroying his career”
What consequences does this have now?? GeorgeNotFound has now been “edited out” of an advertisement by Mr. Beast for his Feastables.
The Twitch streamer Asmongold has presented the case in a one-dimensional manner with his large reach on YouTube.
He clearly takes the side of GeorgeNotFound: “She lied and destroyed his career,” is the title of the video. Regarding the “lie,” Asmongold apparently refers to the streamer creating a false impression about her age.
From his perspective, GeorgeNotFound only has problems because he “cuddled with a girl on a sofa who lied about her age.”
Asmongold shows a reddit post that states: The advance came from her. GeorgeNotFound ghosted the streamer when he found out she was not 21.
The Texan Twitch streamer cannot understand why there should be a problem with the age of the streamer: At 18 she is of legal age. For Asmongold, this is only a problem for people who are themselves under 20 years old, but they apparently make up 95% of GeorgeNotFound’s fans.
