In Minecraft the YouTuber Dream is so popular that there were fears he could single-handedly decide which new mob would come to Minecraft in 2021. That’s exactly what happened in 2020. Dream assures that he will stay out of it this time – but he is not trusted.
What kind of voting is this in Minecraft? Minecraft will soon have a vote on which new mob will be added to the game. On October 16, during a Minecraft Live, 3 new mobs will be up for a vote:
- A “Glare” that finds dark spots
- An “Allay” that apparently wants cookies and gives out other items in return
- A “Copper Golem” that players can build themselves
In 2020, Dream was for a mob that many disagreed with – but it won
That’s the problem: In 2020, there was already such a vote. The ultra-popular Minecraft YouTuber Dream advocated for the mob “Glow Squid” to be added to Minecraft.
The site Ginx writes: Dream allegedly took over the survey and sent thousands of his fans to vote for Glow Squid.

Since Dream has a huge fan base, this mob prevailed. However, many were not happy: They thought Glow Squid was only in Minecraft because it is useful for Dream’s speedruns – not because it should really be the best new mob.
Allegedly, Dream chose the mob back then “only ironically” even though it was the most boring mob.
“I will choose the worst mob!”
This is Dream’s reaction in 2021: Because he received so much backlash back then, Dream announced he would sabotage the voting this year out of spite and choose the “worst mob.” There is nothing people can do about it.
After some commotion, Dream later backed down and said: People would be outraged over a “block game,” so he would stay out of the voting and not make any recommendations.
A few minutes later, however, he came back and ironically wrote: “Of course, I will still manipulate the vote.”
This is the fan reaction: Some Minecraft players do not find this funny at all. They now want to establish the hashtag “DreamShutTheFuckUp” (meaning Dream, shut your mouth) so that he trends on Twitter on October 16.
Let’s see who wins the election tomorrow.
Dream is known for his speedruns, but there was a little problem:
