The new AR game Minecraft Earth celebrates its release in early access in October. Many players are wondering why summer wasn’t chosen as the release date.
When exactly is Minecraft Earth celebrating its release? There is no exact date for that. At Minecon, the developers of the game said it would go into early access in October. However, they did not specify a day.
In Minecraft Earth, you can enter the real world and build buildings and complete dungeons alongside friends. It will function somewhat similarly to Pokémon GO, but will deal with the core features of Minecraft.

Minecraft Earth in October – Why that sounds weird
This is being discussed: Many players find it odd that an AR game is supposed to be released in October. After all, you have to go outside, and a rainy autumn day is not ideal for that.

Releasing an “explore in the real world” game in October doesn’t sound like the smartest idea. Still, I’m looking forward to it and will give it a try.
Is the release date really bad? Comparing the release with competitors like Pokémon GO or Wizards Unite, the date indeed seems a bit late. Niantic chose the perfect time for Europeans and North Americans with Pokémon and Harry Potter.
Especially in summer 2016, thousands of players were on the streets enjoying the weather while playing Pokémon GO. This is unlikely to happen in October.
Nevertheless, the move from Minecraft Earth makes perfect sense. After all, many countries in the world still have wonderful weather in October. Australia, South America, and the southern USA still have summery temperatures at that time. There will be enough players to lure onto the streets.
Additionally, this is just the early access phase. There is still no official release date. It wouldn’t be bad at the beginning of the game if the whole world doesn’t rush to the new AR game right away.
It is quite conceivable that the official release is planned for the coming spring. Then the weather will be better here too, and you can spend the first nice days of the year with Minecraft Earth.

Honestly, I think this could be pretty cool if done well. Being somewhere outside, perhaps remote or hidden, and seeing what someone else has built with their creativity could be pretty amazing.
