You currently cannot go out into the world? Don’t worry, in Minecraft you can now explore the whole Earth – at a scale of 1:1.
Due to the current Corona situation, it is advisable to spend most of the day in your own four walls and avoid contact with other people. Some Japanese even celebrate their graduation in Minecraft.
But if the urge to explore the world suddenly takes you, you can now do so digitally, and that is in Minecraft. A new mod creates the entire Earth in Minecraft – and not scaled down, but in realistic size with a 1:1 implementation.
How does it work? The mod “Terra 1 to 1” uses various public data as a basis, such as maps from Google. It imports different maps and then creates a corresponding map from them. Using coordinates, you can jump to any known place in the world and see how the mod has implemented it in the game.
All of this is implemented in real size. One block in Minecraft corresponds to one meter in the real world.
The mod also ensures that the normal limits of Minecraft do not count. Normally, a world can only be 256 blocks high, but with the mod “Terra 1 to 1,” this limitation is lifted. This allows you to climb Mount Everest, which is over 8800 meters (and thus blocks) high.

What kind of errors are there? Even though the modification is already extremely impressive, there are a whole series of errors and bugs. For instance, the mod is unable to represent cities and buildings correctly – these are completely missing. This includes particularly large buildings, such as pyramids in Egypt. They are not represented as buildings, but are simply colored mountains made of colorful clay.
There are also problems in the sea. At coastlines and in the ocean, there are often some “chunks” that are not calculated correctly, resulting in strange islands in the sea that shouldn’t be there.
If you still want to try out the mod yourself, you can download “Terra 1 to 1” here on Curse. But be careful: The mod is extremely resource-hungry and could put some PCs to their knees.
YouTuber wants to recreate entire cities: Despite all these errors, the mod is extremely impressive and not only creates a very cool survival map but also enables a whole range of other projects. The YouTuber PippenFTS uploaded the video of the mod. He dreams of someday having recreated all the major cities on this world map of Minecraft.
Whether that will become a reality remains to be seen – but it would definitely be a cool project.
Be careful when exploring the world – otherwise you might step into such nasty death traps.
