The leadership of the Minecraft subreddit has to go. The reason is a post about a Redstone construct that a moderator didn’t like.
The Minecraft subreddit is worth a daily visit for many. Whether you admire the interesting achievements of players, seek inspiration for your own builds, or engage in lively discussions about what mobs Minecraft still needs – it’s a place where the community comes together. At the same time, it is one of the most peaceful subreddits, with a very pleasant discussion culture.
But this subreddit has now exchanged its leadership after a post overflowed the cup.
The story of the man behind Minecraft, Notch, can be seen here:
What kind of post is this? The post that triggered the response comes from “CraftyMasterman.” He is already considered a living legend in the Minecraft subreddit because he creates incredibly complex Redstone mechanisms that take many months to complete. His latest project: He fully recreated the game “Geometry Dash” in Minecraft as a gigantic Redstone structure.
He spent a full 6 months on the project, and the result is impressive. You can play a variety of levels and modes and even use a level editor.
As if that weren’t impressive enough, CraftyMasterman also did without texture packs, mods, command line commands, and resource packs. It’s all pure “handwork” – and it makes it all the more amazing that he only took half a year to do it.
This post was deleted by a moderator without providing concrete reasons.
What was the problem with the post? This is not entirely clear in retrospect. The post was originally locked by a moderator and classified as “advertisement.” However, CraftyMasterman did not receive an explanation for why the post was deleted.
This led to quite an uproar in the Minecraft community and lengthy discussions among the moderation team, which ultimately took action.
What was decided? The “guilty” moderator who deleted the post was also the leader of the moderator team in Minecraft and had been for a long time. The rest of the team has now asked him to resign and leave the team. He has complied with this request.
Therefore, the Minecraft subreddit is now “under new management,” according to the mods. They will review and revise existing rules, but the restructuring will take some time. The corresponding post has now been restored.
The Minecraft subreddit is one of the largest gaming subreddits. With more than 7.4 million members, hundreds of posts and many thousands of comments are made every day, many of which require moderation and review. Thus, it also happens that a player sets a pretty crazy record.
