The MMO shooter Destiny is arguably the game of the last few months, and some celebrities have also expressed their love for it. While former boxing champion Mike Tyson is still gaming, Eminem no longer does. He has grown tired of Destiny.
Celebrities also game
Statistically, celebrities have to game as well. Especially since they often lead an unsettled life, being on the move, they have plenty of free time in foreign cities and hotel rooms, which they then spend with gaming consoles. Consoles are reportedly very popular among athletes. Many football players are FIFA experts, basketball players play NBA 2K, and a savvy football player is obviously a Madden pro. However, not every celebrity admits to their passion, and MMOs tend to be viewed as a bit nerdy (not sure why) and could therefore damage their image. That’s why gamers are pleased when – as in the case of the recently deceased Robin Williams – someone who truly “belongs to the community” is revealed.
In Destiny, this appears to be the former boxing world champion, ear nibbler, pigeon breeder, and, as we know since “Hangover,” tiger lover Mike Tyson. He was a guest on a US radio show and was asked what he does in his free time. Tyson replied that he plays video games. “Which ones?” “Destiny, a lot of Destiny,” was his answer.
Does Eminem really not play Destiny anymore or is it nasty Nintendo propaganda?
Also suspected of being a hardcore gamer is US rapper Eminem. According to numerous tweets from people who listened to an internet radio show, the host claimed that Eminem had stopped playing Destiny because he found the game boring. And he is now buying a Wii U to play Super Smash Bros. The radio show is produced by Eminem, so it’s quite possible they have insider information about what the guy is gaming.
Whether the host’s statements are true or he was just joking is unknown. It would fit Eminem’s image. But it could also be the result of nefarious propaganda from Nintendo fans – or an insider joke. By the way, it’s actually known that Eminem games: he once posted a Donkey Kong screenshot with his high scores, which were indeed quite impressive.
