PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is set to release on Xbox One later this year. According to Microsoft, they aim to make the successful game even stronger.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is currently only available on PC. There, the battle royale online shooter is still in the unfinished early access phase, but even in this state, the game is achieving one success after another. By now, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has even surpassed the hit MOBA Dota 2 on Steam.
The huge success of PUBG is expected to expand further once it launches on Xbox One. Microsoft intends to ensure this.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds – Thanks to Microsoft, a similar massive success as Minecraft?
According to Mike Ybarra, the Vice President of Xbox & Windows Gaming at Microsoft, they want to drive PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds particularly strongly. After all, Microsoft already has experience turning ambitious projects with potential for success into real hits. The most prominent example was Minecraft, which could only realize its full potential under Microsoft’s guidance.
Therefore, Microsoft’s “Advanced Technology Team” is also working closely with PUBG developer Bluehole. The launch on Xbox One is intended to happen as soon as possible and in optimal quality. Additionally, the powerful marketing and publishing opportunities of the US software giant will help PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds reach and retain even more potential players.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds – PS4 version still unclear
The Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds does not yet have a concrete launch date. However, they plan to launch the Xbox version sometime in the fourth quarter of 2017. Regarding if and when a PUBG version for PlayStation 4 will be released, Bluehole has remained silent since the announcement of the Microsoft deal. The developer has not provided any new information since then.
