After the first Xbox 20/20 stream, many users were disappointed. Now Microsoft has reached out to these fans. They commented on the Xbox Inside stream via Twitter.
On May 7, 2020, Microsoft presented its first Xbox Inside stream. Many trailers were showcased. However, many fans were not impressed:
- The official YouTube video has received 17,200 upvotes against about 22,400 downvotes. This trend was evident during the livestream.
Games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla were already known beforehand. Many of the viewers were expecting gameplay and not cinematics.
Xbox Series X: “We raised false expectations.”
What does the marketing manager say about the stream? Aaron Greenberg, the marketing manager for Xbox, has now reached out to the fans via Twitter.
In his Twitter post, he explains: “We definitely raised false expectations, that is on us. We welcome all feedback and promise that we and our team will learn from this.”
What was the problem with the stream? Many viewers were hoping to see how the Xbox Series X performs in action. Many wanted to finally see how powerful the hardware is. Because this plays a role alongside the price for many users.
Instead, Microsoft showed 13 trailers for games in the stream, some of which were even shown exclusively worldwide.
However, this was apparently not enough for the fans. They expected gameplay for the promised games on the Xbox Series X and did not receive it.
Gameplay that would have been shown for the first time on the new Xbox would have been interesting even for PlayStation fans. But that was mostly absent at this point.
This is how Xbox players react: In some threads on reddit, Xbox players and fans are vigorously discussing the Xbox stream:
- rocademiks writes: “Microsoft at least tried. And I wanted to give them the chance. But these trailers and the whole gameplay that is not shown on the console itself tires me.”
- Players see Microsoft’s failure as an opportunity for the PS5. User ScubaSteve1219 explains: “This is a big moment for Sony and they hopefully take advantage of it. They just need to show a bit of gameplay, such as from Horizon [Zero Dawn] 2, and that would be far more impressive than anything we saw today.”
