It seems that there will be a new form of Mewtwo. Whether it will be released soon or only in the distant future is not known.
These are the theories: Numerous trainers on Reddit and Twitter are now speculating about what this finding might mean. In the history of Pokémon, several forms of Mewtwo have been shown. These include:

- The two Mega forms
How likely is the Armored form: Most players speculate about the Armored form. The fact that Nintendo secured the rights to market this form just last month suggests so. Other companies cannot simply sell merchandise of this form.
It seems that Nintendo and thus Niantic have something planned with Mewtwo in this form.
Additionally, a re-release of the first Pokémon movie has been announced for the Japanese market. In it, Mewtwo appears with its armor. It’s quite possible that Niantic is planning something for the release of this movie.
How likely is the Mega form: Some Pokémon have Mega forms. These forms were introduced only in the 6th generation and are a kind of advanced evolution of the normal Pokémon, but only lasts for a certain period of time.
