The Metal Gear spinoff Metal Gear Survive was released in February. How well or poorly the survival game has sold is currently unknown, as Metal Gear Survive is only mentioned in passing in Konami’s financial report.
Recently, Konami announced its results for the fiscal year ending March 31. It is noteworthy that Metal Gear Survive is only mentioned as a footnote, even though it was released in February for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
“Metal Gear Survive has been released” was all Konami had to say about the game in the financial report. Now there are rumors that Metal Gear Survive has sold far below expectations.

Is Metal Gear Survive a Financial Disappointment?
What is Metal Gear Survive? Metal Gear Survive is a spinoff of the main storyline of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and takes place in an alternate universe. Players are pulled into a hostile world full of biological threats through a wormhole. There, they must survive in missions with up to four players and find a way back home. Survival typically involves hunting, crafting, and fighting.
What do players think? Metal Gear Survive faced a tough start with players. Konami was accused of exploiting the Metal Gear brand. Additionally, the departure of the series’ creator, Hideo Kojima, has intensified fans’ distrust.
What do we know about the sales? It is known that Metal Gear Survive debuted at 6th place in the UK charts for physical sales in its launch week. Despite this good result, around 85 percent fewer units were sold in the first week of Metal Gear Survive compared to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in 2013.
According to market researchers, the survival game did not place in the top 20 of best-selling video games in its first month in the USA. Additionally, the game was quickly discounted: both domestically and in other countries, Metal Gear Survive is already available for as low as 20 Euros.
