The prestige system of World of Warcraft will be account-wide and a merging is coming. We reveal what this means.
With the upcoming expansion Battle for Azeroth, there are some changes to the PvP system of World of Warcraft. Particularly important for many fans are the changes to the prestige system. After it was previously revealed that there will be a unified prestige system for the entire account, there were still some questions left unanswered. Blizzard has now answered some of them.
All prestige levels will be summed up
What is the prestige system? The prestige system was introduced only in Legion. Characters level up by collecting honor, unlocking PvP talents, and can ascend to a prestige rank at level 50, which grants special rewards. The prestige rank applies to each character individually but always entices with the same rewards. So, if you do a lot of PvP with multiple characters, you have already unlocked the same pet multiple times, which you can only learn once.
What will change? In Battle for Azeroth, there will no longer be a prestige rank for individual characters, but rather for the entire account. Thus, rewards will only be unlocked once for the account, and you can advance your prestige rank with different characters.
How exactly does it work? All prestige levels of your characters will simply be added up. If you have 3 characters at prestige level 4, then that results in a prestige level of about 12.
At this point, it is still uncertain whether “in-progress” prestige levels will be merged as well. It is only certain that complete prestige levels will be summed up.
If you have multiple characters at level 110 and want a particularly high prestige level at the start of Battle for Azeroth, you should try to reach prestige level 1 on all your twinks. It only takes half as long as the other prestige levels and can therefore be farmed in a few hours.
