With leading brands like FILMSTARTS, MOVIEPILOT, IGN, GAMESTAR, GAMEPRO, ALLYANCE, and MEIN-MMO, Webedia reaches over ten million entertainment fans each month. In addition, our in-house content agency Webedia Brand Services supports renowned clients in content marketing with a focus on entertainment and lifestyle. Creative event and marketing concepts are realized by the in-house marketing agency Flimmer.
Mein-MMO.de reaches between 250,000 and 300,000 unique readers every day, who write about 4,000 comments a week. In Germany, we have been the most widely read editorial gaming website in 2019 according to Agof.
With more than 40 pieces of content per day, ranging from current news to elaborate specials, MeinMMO reports on everything that online multiplayer gamers care about. This includes fast-paced MMO shooters like Destiny 2, classic MMORPGs like World of Warcraft, and new online multiplayer titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
We are looking for a(n) for our location in Munich or remote as soon as possible:
Online Editor (m/w/d) – Mein-MMO.de
As an online editor, you will be well-informed about the general news situation in the world of online multiplayer games. You are able to identify an exciting story that genuinely interests the gamer behind the game. You can also use the corresponding tools to determine which content should appear in the service area. You know if the player needs a specific guide or information quickly.
YOUR TASKS
- In close coordination with the editorial team and the rest of the team, you help plan the editorial coverage
- You research, write, and edit articles such as news, opinions, specials, or game recommendations. The focus is on MMOs, MMORPGs, and online multiplayer games in general
- You create an overview of the general news situation in online gaming and can independently derive topics that are unique, new, and relevant
- You help optimize editorial processes by questioning our workflows and creating guides for authors when necessary
- You analyze data with the appropriate tools to identify topics that readers are currently really interested in
- You network with the industry and community, for example at events like Gamescom
- You assist in the coordination and onboarding of freelance authors and provide them with support
YOUR PROFILE
- You should have already gained experience in online journalism. This includes a well-maintained personal blog or a position at a larger online magazine. Ideally, tell us in your cover letter what your tasks looked like here. What was successful, and how was it measured?
- You have a broad knowledge of the MMO genre and have played various online games intensively, understanding what communities are interested in with games-as-a-service. Ideally, tell us in your cover letter which games you are particularly passionate about.
- You enjoy putting yourself in others’ shoes and recognizing their needs. The reader is your top priority. What does that mean for you?
- You should know how to write user-oriented content and how to truly reach people (using data disclosed by Google, community indicators, social networks, etc.)
- You understand how users arrive at websites (AMP, Google, Discover, Social, Reddit, etc.)
- Do you feel a strong drive to publish something when you recognize a story first or something significant is happening in your game? Ideally, mention an example in your cover letter.
- You understand what needs to be done for readers to build a connection with the brand and stay on the page longer
- You openly address problems and want to solve them on your own initiative.
- Experience with analysis tools like Google Analytics, Data Studio, Search Console, Google Suggest, Google Trends, and keyword tools is an advantage – you should have already shown an interest in analyzing your contributions
- If you would like to work from home, you are able to work independently and communicate with colleagues remotely (digitally)
