That’s why we want YOU: MeinMMO is growing. To tackle the challenges that come with it, we want to set ourselves up accordingly and expand the author team at MeinMMO. Currently, we specifically want to strengthen our team for the online shooter Destiny 2.
And that’s exactly why we are looking for YOU – a self-employed employee in the role of a freelance author, who enjoys writing and knows Destiny 2 like the back of their hand.
Who am I applying to? This is MeinMMO
This is how we are structured: MeinMMO was founded in September 2013 and has been part of Webedia Gaming since March 2016. We have an independent editorial team, and most of the employees work from home in a home office. However, we also have employees at our Munich headquarters and share resources with GameStar and others, who are in the same building.
This is our focus: The focus of our reporting is on online multiplayer games that are continuously developed. In the past, these were referred to as MMOs and MMORPGs, nowadays the term “Games as a service” or service games is becoming more common.
This includes Destiny 2, which will be your main focus moving forward. Generally, our authors write and publish articles, news, and stories about online games.
This is our current standing: According to AGOF figures, MeinMMO was the gaming site with the most daily unique readers in Germany in June 2019 (via meedia). Just like the previous months as well.
We reach between 250,000 and 300,000 unique readers daily, who write about 4,000 comments a week.
What should I bring as an applicant?
To clear up some prejudices right from the start and to alleviate any fears or concerns you might have: We do not have formal requirements for applicants. Journalistic experience is a plus, but by no means a must. Just because you don’t run your own blog or haven’t written articles for other sites, it doesn’t mean your application is hopeless.
This is what we are looking for: Anyone who applies for this position should first of all be passionate about everything related to Destiny 2, have a broad, deep knowledge of the game, and also play it intensively and with passion.
Terms like raids, builds, exotics, Xur, weekly reset, armor 2.0, or shadowkeep don’t leave question marks on your face? Do you watch the latest videos from well-known Destiny YouTubers every day, inform yourself on Reddit about the latest developments in the game, and know what currently concerns the community around Bungie’s shooter?
Additionally, you also enjoy writing, have a good way of expressing yourself, and you don’t need anyone to explain the difference between a period and a comma to you? Can you also place them correctly? Then that’s already a good foundation on which we can build together. Because in the end, you should help us take MeinMMO to the next level.
This is also important to us:
- that you bring passion for Destiny 2 and writing
- that you are eager to learn
- that you are always up to date about Destiny 2
- that you are reliable
- that you can handle criticism
- that you can also work flexibly. Because news doesn’t just come between 9 and 12 o’clock
- that you are interested in what readers really want to read and that you actively engage with the data tools that reveal this to you (which will of course be taught to you)
- that you have an eye for cool stories and constantly expand your horizon in this area. You must strive to recognize what the core of the story is that resonates with the readers
- that you are willing to invest a lot of time and energy into the job (especially at the beginning during the onboarding), to constantly develop yourself to work more effectively and creatively
- that you are a team player who can exchange ideas with other authors, but ultimately also able to work independently.

When should I start? If your application is successful, you can start immediately.
What is the time frame of the job? About 20 hours a week with flexible working hours.
What about payment? The position is paid – we are not looking for a volunteer author, as is the case with some gaming sites. The details of the payment will be clarified in a personal conversation.
