It is finally Friday again, and for those who have not completely melted in the summer heat over the past few days, we have a little question. Today, we want to know which MMO you would recommend to your friends and, above all: Why exactly this game?
Which game excels in all areas?
By now, there are MMOs like grains of sand on the beach, although the sand is gradually becoming less and less. Each of us has probably tried more than just one of these games. Let’s assume you have a friend who has never played an MMO – which one would you recommend to this friend? And above all: Why exactly this game?
Cortyn says: I had to think longer about this question than I expected. This may be partly due to the temperatures, which make even the Nether seem cold, and partly due to the many aspects that need to be considered.
Although I have played World of Warcraft fanatically for years and still think it is an incredibly good game, I doubt that this fascination can still be triggered in “newcomers”. The majority of the leveling content is too trivial, and very little of the areas and story is experienced.
No, after long consideration, I concluded that I would probably recommend Guild Wars 2 to a newcomer, even though I don’t play it myself.
Leveling is fun, and there is much to discover in the world. The classes feel very different from each other, and PvP is always fair due to equally balanced armor for all players. The absence of the Holy Trinity ensures that no one has to play something they don’t want to, just to be included in instances.
The personal story entertains even when you can’t find any teammates. There’s also the pricing model: One-time payment for the game means no new costs, apart from expansions and possible gem purchases. From my perspective, Guild Wars 2 only offers the “best” gaming experience in PvP compared to other MMOs, but the overall package is simply more cohesive than in other games.
