Each of you knows games that simply attract you magically. Sometimes it is that one feature that is the decisive argument. What is it?
The selection of games for computers, consoles, and mobile devices is huge. Racing games, shooters, MMOs, and of course, battle royale are among the genres that are particularly popular. And some games just don’t let you go. Those are the ones you always return to or never leave.
What captivates you in a game that makes you say: “Yep, I’m staying here”?
Story, loot, content, or the community – What convinces you?
Is story important to you? A good story is told in an exciting way, has ups and downs, and always finds a way to grab your attention with compelling twists.
Do you find the story of a game so important that it is the reason you continue playing? The 5 best story MMORPGs you can play in 2018.
Looting and leveling: Gear is a core element of many online games. Many use rarity systems and let you grind for hours so that your gear becomes slightly better and you do a bit more DPS. But hey, you’ve improved. You’re happy when the legendary loot finally adorns your virtual character.
Some players really push this loot, creating outrageous armors that drastically change the character’s appearance. Many strive for a specific look of how they want to adorn their online figure.
Is such rare or flashy loot a reason for you to keep coming back and improve your character?
Content that is constantly being expanded: To keep their player base entertained, many online games regularly expand with new content. This can be story DLCs or new maps, vehicles, weapons, armor, and so on.
Sometimes it’s seasons that regularly restart and change the game slightly, but give players new tasks again. Is it this content expansion that keeps you with a game? In Battlefield 5, there are fears of content drought after launch – developers say “chill out”
A strong community: If the game itself offers too little entertainment, a good community can make up for a lot. If the events themselves are boring, streamers or guilds might make something special out of it.
In communities, mods for entirely new game modes often emerge when you suddenly run roleplay servers in GTA 5. Then the actual content of the game becomes unimportant, and the fellow players come to the forefront.
Can a strong community be a reason for you to stay with a game?
