The week is over, the days are getting colder, and nothing stands in the way of three days full of continuous gaming. How fitting it is that Blizzard launched the closed beta version of the shooter Overwatch three days ago.
Streams and guides to the various characters are springing up all over the internet, and everyone can at least get an impression of the wild shooting as a viewer. We want to know: What do you think of Overwatch?
The future needs heroes
Since the announcement at BlizzCon last year, a lot has changed in the shooter. Abilities have been revised or completely replaced. Numerous new characters have been announced, and several battlefields have been added to the game. Unlike many comparable games, the characters can be changed during the ongoing match, and even the same hero can be present multiple times per team.
Although aiming is quite important in a shooter, newcomers can also celebrate successes if they choose a character that shines more through its abilities than raw firepower.
Cortyn says: All the negative voices that existed beforehand regarding Overwatch made me somewhat skeptical. My favorite argument, that every round would be the same (I know that accusation from Evolve – it was also rubbish) was expertly ignored by me.
However, the complaints that Overwatch is just a Team Fortress 2 clone were louder. While I can’t confirm or deny that, as I’ve never played TF2, I was relentlessly caught up in the enthusiasm of the streamers.
Every streamer I followed praised the game to the heavens, and the matches looked like a lot of fun. Even when the participants lose, they enjoy successful team attacks and seem motivated to start the next round (and honestly: some of the streamers usually go ridiculously crazy when they lose).
I am counting down the days until I have access to the beta. The only problem is: I don’t know what number to start from…
