Big MMORPG releases are now rare. However, in 2019 several online role-playing games are on the agenda. We want to know which ones you think have the best chance of breaking through.
In 2019, several new MMORPGs will, with a bit of luck, celebrate their release. In the following paragraphs, we will briefly introduce these games before you can vote in a survey on which one you think can prevail.
Ascent: Infinite Realm (A:IR)
A:IR comes from the Korean developer Bluehole. They have already gained initial experience in the genre with the colorful action MMORPG TERA. Additionally, the battle royale shooter PUBG is also from them.
What is special about A:IR? A:IR is about airships and mechs in a steampunk look. The game is supposed to focus heavily on action combat. Additionally, a large PvP mode with realm vs. realm battles is planned.
Furthermore, the developers want to ensure that A:IR is easily accessible and can be played well by people with little time.
Project TL (Lineage 3)
After the long-planned Lineage Eternal was canceled, NCSoft wants to finally release a new game from their successful series with Project TL. The game is currently only known under the working title “Project TL” and is supposed to become an action MMORPG.
What is special about Project TL? The game is supposed to focus on a dynamic action combat system. The environment will be destructible, and there will be sieges and weather effects. The character system is supposed to be more classic. The interchangeable heroes from Lineage Eternal have been removed.
Ashes of Creation
Ashes of Creation is supposed to be a classic MMORPG where players build a new world and experience adventures.
What is special about Ashes of Creation? The game focuses on the fact that you not only level up your hero but also the game world. The world essentially behaves like a character of its own and is changed by the actions of players. So if you catch a lot of fish, the town in the region will become an important fishing port.
Crowfall
Crowfall focuses on PvP and sandbox gameplay. In a fantasy world, you must prevail against other players and form alliances.
What is special about Crowfall? The world in Crowfall has an expiration date. Each of these “campaigns” is time-limited and will eventually be destroyed by undead. Until then, you can enjoy yourself freely and develop your hero.
Once a campaign is over, you can start the next one, which may have entirely different rules. Between the campaigns, you expand your little kingdom in an inter-dimensional space that is never destroyed.
Camelot Unchained
Camelot Unchained is another PvP sandbox game. It is the successor to the famous Dark Age of Camelot. Its developer Mark Jacobs is also involved in Camelot Unchained again.
What is special about Camelot Unchained? Camelot Unchained offers three large factions that will forever fight each other. PvP fans will be fully satisfied, especially in large battles that should involve hundreds of players.
New World
New World, the big new game from Amazon, is supposed to be a PvP sandbox set against the backdrop of the 17th century. The focus is clearly on survival and PvP, theme park fans might be disappointed.What is special about New World? You can freely explore the huge game world. You have no predefined classes. You develop your skills and build your character accordingly. It is also important to work together in guilds and conquer territories.
