In January 2021, some customers are still waiting for the delivery of their PS5. There is good news for pre-order customers at Saturn and MediaMarkt. A new wave of shipments seems to be going out. But how does it look for the PlayStation 5 in general this year?
What is happening with the orders? Already before the release date of the PS5 on November 19, MediaMarkt announced that some orders would not arrive on time. At the end of November, there was then a larger number of deliveries – but this hardly served all pre-order customers.
Even 2 months later, there are still customers who have not received a console.
As the website Gameswirtschaft reports, some of the buyers at Saturn received a shipping or pickup confirmation on the night of January 20 and throughout the day. Things are also moving at MediaMarkt.
Saturn is sending out consoles, MediaMarkt is charging credit cards
Which order numbers have been shipped? During the night, shipping confirmations for the order numbers 9179x and 9180x are said to have been sent out. These are obviously for the digital edition of the PS5.
At MediaMarkt, on the other hand, credit cards are said to have been charged with €399.99 or €499.99. From this, Gameswirtschaft concludes that a new wave of shipments is also imminent here.
New consoles could be available from next week
What is the status of new consoles? While some pre-order customers are still waiting for their consoles to be delivered, many didn’t even get the chance to order a PS5 at all.
When the next wave of consoles arrives is still unknown. Rumors suggest that consoles started being shipped to retailers again on January 18. This would coincide with the current shipments from Saturn and MediaMarkt.
New sales are expected to begin next week, starting January 25.

Where can you get them? If you want a new PS5, you should rather ignore retail. Typically, the consoles are available from online retailers like Amazon or Otto, GameStop, and large electronics retailers like Expert, Euronics, or Medimax.
However, you will need to act quickly and need a bit of luck. However, the outlook for the entire year looks somewhat better:
