A product page for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 appeared on the website of the electronics retailer. Fans speculated whether it was a placeholder or a leak. Here’s what the officials say about it now.
What happened? So far, Rockstar has not announced a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2. Nevertheless, many fans hope that such a version will exist aside from console releases. When Media Markt offered such a version for pre-order on their website and also provided a date, hopes were high.
What’s new? Media Markt has now commented on the offer and explained that it was just a placeholder. However, they are counting on a PC version of the game.
Hope for a PC version of RDR 2 remains
When the product page appeared, it was already expected that the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 could be a placeholder.
In a statement to Wccftech, a representative from Media Markt explained:
It is true that we listed an RDR2 PC version. I addressed this with the gaming department at headquarters, and I was told that it was something like a placeholder. However, they expect that it will be announced at some point in the future (as it was with GTA V). It is no longer listed for pre-order now.
Fans’ fears confirmed: According to Media Markt, no PC version was accidentally leaked, but just a placeholder on the website was activated. Many fans had already anticipated this, even though hope for a PC version remains.
Fans are still hoping that Rockstar will eventually announce that a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released. Everything about the release, features, and the online mode of Red Dead Redemption 2 can be found here
Arguments for a PC version are, that GTA 5 was released on PC after the consoles.
Arguments against a PC version are, that the predecessor “Red Dead Redemption” was not released for PC.
