Cortyn does not like the new potions in WoW even though hundreds of them are thrown in every day.
I wish you all a nice Wednesday again! A week after the Karazhan patch, I have already found something in WoW that I do not like. Sure, that is nitpicking at a high level – but it still has to fit for me. Because I find it a bit disappointing that many bosses in Legion have now been passively nerfed. Wasn’t it mentioned in the patch notes? True. And somehow not.
The reason for my disappointment is the new potion from the alchemists, the “Potion of Endless Might.”
In principle, there are two points that bother me about the potion:
- The potion is too cheap. 10 potions have a production cost of exactly one unit of “Blood of Sargeras” and 10 vials. Both are practically “disposable items” and players have them in the hundreds or even thousands in their bank. Every alchemist with herb gathering has collected several hundred units of this during “normal” farming. All other potions have high costs and require 3 different plants and up to 4 pieces – for just one single potion. This means less effect for multiple times the resources.
- The potion is too powerful. Two minutes in a fight can yield 2500 more points in the primary attribute, resulting in several percentage points of damage increase – an effect that hardly any other potion can reach.
The combination of these two facts makes the potion the current “must-have” in raids, because it is virtually endlessly available and does its job better than all other alchemical products. Honestly, I have several thousand of them in stock, so I can use the potions in every conceivable situation.
- A boss in a 5-man instance? Potion of Endless Might.
- Pulled too many mobs? Potion of Endless Might.
- All other buttons on cooldown? Potion of Endless Might.
- Shoe guy babbles some Destiny nonsense? Potion of Endless Might!
Sure, the potion is not really a “gamebreaker” and with the new equipment now available in Karazhan, all fights will be somewhat easier anyway, but at least you have to put in some effort – the Potions of Endless Might simply fall into our laps.
Do you also feel that this potion is a “soft nerf” for the current raid bosses? Or is that not so important to you because you don’t raid anyway? Does the potion come in handy for you because you now have the “extra kick” that you were missing before?
Whatever it is, we will read again next Wednesday – there will certainly be some reason to complain at BlizzCon.
