The Summer Games in Overwatch are over, but that is of course no reason not to get upset about it.
No Skins, but other annoyances
The “Summer Games” of Overwatch have come to an end. As predicted, I was unable to get my coveted skin. Oh well, Swiss Mercy. It could have been such a wonderful time for both of us! As compensation, I can throw Genji and Zarya double skins at anyone until they say stop and even take care of children and grandchildren. The dice were simply not in my favor. But hey, I just have to wait a year to have another chance at my beloved skin.
AFK Bots in Overwatch – Everything for the Lootbox
Okay, skins are one thing. But the teammates in Lúcioball were much worse. Although “teammates” might be too generous a term here, as it would imply that people actually participated in the match. This is another thing that somehow runs through all Blizzard titles. I have known AFK players in WoW since the days of Alterac Valley, AFK players in Heroes of the Storm, and even in StarCraft 2, I have encountered these people.
But now in a shooter like Overwatch? That annoys me. If it were just pure “afk”, I could still tolerate it. But obviously, there are plenty of “afk bots” that just spam emotes continuously or take a step in one direction every few seconds.
Of course, the problem here is that Lúcioball gave quite a bit of XP for a relatively low time investment, which significantly accelerated the farming of lootboxes. But especially in the last days of the event, there was hardly a match where at least one of the 6 players wasn’t a bot. Our highlight was a game where we played exclusively against bots.
Additionally, the “ragequit pro game rate (RPPQ) has significantly increased in Lúcioball. Is your own team receiving a hit? Quickly exit! Why? That would mean giving up experience points and time. I still don’t understand it.
Furthermore: Since when has “teabagging” come back in style? I thought that died out with the prepubescent group of the 1990s. Can’t you please stop hammering your virtual genitals in other people’s faces? Thank you.
P.S.: Next Wednesday, you will have to do without me, as I will be diving headfirst into World of Warcraft: Legion – if servers or bugs don’t bring the game to a standstill, then you will probably still hear from me.
