I wish you all a nice Wednesday morning again! What topic would be more appropriate for this day than World of Warcraft? So let’s not beat around the bush and start complaining: This time, however, not about the content or developer decisions, but about problems with people (those strange beings without wings and horns).
The first content patch of World of Warcraft: Legion, Return to Karazhan, has been released today. My guild still hasn’t managed to successfully complete the heroic mode of the Emerald Nightmare, which has led to some tensions within the guild – some players are dissatisfied with the slow progress, while others are unhappy about the pressure created by a lack of performance.
The reasons for the failures are well known: a small group of players who are not delivering the required performance, causing attempt after attempt to fail.
While I may not be the perfect demon in the Nether, I can say with quite a bit of certainty that it’s not my fault. But social ties like “That’s X’s brother” and “Yes, she’s always been around” ensure that no one gets sorted out. Hmpf. Sometimes I wish for a bit more strictness.
I’m a bit afraid of the next raid, as since today’s patch, some addons can no longer display positions. And while some players may have no problem with this, it will surely have a devastating effect on the so-called “movement crippled” players.
As quickly as the fun of raiding came, it has also left me just as quickly. Not because of the boss design, but due to social tensions within the guild. But that’s unfortunately always the case in an MMO – social problems dampen the enjoyment of the game. Sometimes, people are just terrible.
